Erek_Kudla

Howdy all!

In town and going to be out at Ridgecrest, Ca this weekend March 17-20 to help Prospectors MC and Desert MC to work their event this weekend.

I have let them know that I will be there with my dad at minimum and some club people might be coming. We will be there to help with anything they need. I'll have my stapler and hammer and bike and be ready to go.

Also we will definitely doing a LOT of riding.

We will be right next to Charlie's Place. Here is a link to the spot in the desert - https://goo.gl/maps/WJMkLxQ7ntWwDbSC9

I will have an area for us and some arrows point you the way once you get into the dirt area.

Let me know if you have any questions. 805-236-5866.

I want to thank Adam and Dwight for making the trek out to Ridgecrest to help at the first round of the ISDE Qualifiers.

Erek and myself worked Friday ribboning off trail blocks on the first and second loops. There were so many blocks needed we ran out of time, stacks and ribbon, we were unable to get to the third loop. The Prospectors said the course was completely marked and ready to race (Not). A normal desert racer is used to the trail being 50ft wide. But at the Qualifiers the trail is less than 5ft wide.

We were there to help the club with their race (Saturday and Sunday) but they said they had it covered and we weren’t needed to work, except Erek. He had to be the AMA rep. for the series. So we just cruised around the courses and watched. I stayed around closer to the starts and finishes of each loop to be there if Ryan or Jess might need any pit help.

Jess McKinley showed up to race (He was surprised to see the old VCMC signs up to guide him to the camp site).  Ryan was there to qualify for a spot to be on a club team going to the ISDE.

Saturday both Jess and Ryan had good rides, but their results weren’t what they wanted.

Adam, Dwight, and myself had a good play ride after the races.

Sunday was a different story for Ryan. During the first loop, the wire going to the starter button broke in the wire harness at the connector. Not having a starter button on our bikes make them almost unusable. (Especially to race). He had to cut the wires and strip them back and touch them together to get his bike started. Giving him and myself a wake-up call on making sure to carry a couple wire connectors and tape in our tool bag. He was able to make a temporary repair in the pits.

Both Jess and Ryan had good rides, but their results again weren’t what they wanted.

Erek left Saturday right after the races heading to the Grindingstone Extreme race in Page Arizona.
