  • Good Afternoon MPRD Volunteers and others receiving this email.... Just wanted to send you a short note to let you know that, with the exception of the roads/trails/area listed below, all of the MVUM Seasonal Closure gates and width limiters have been opened as of yesterday, April 28th. Ari Songer, MPRD Recreation Officer, provided the photos above to let everyone know that if you have any plans to either enter thru or exist out of Hungry Valley SVRA, the gate at the south end of the park on Goldhill Road near the Forest boundary will ONLY be open between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM each day. Due to the Post Fire damage to the park, they are only able to operate as Day Use, which is why we have tried to post signage (such as above) along all of our roads and trails that has the potential to connect with the Alamo Mtn - Goldhill Area road/trail systems that exists out thru Hungry Valley.

  • There are several motorcycle trails that can be used to leave the Goldhill area including Goldhill #124 Trail and Piru Creek #128 Trail that connect with other motorcycle trails and ultimately Forest roads. Unfortunately, for vehicles other than motorcycles, the only exit would be up Alamo Mountain and down Miller Jeep #129 Trail to Lockwood Creek #127 Trail. Use CAUTION on both Piru Creek and Miller Jeep Trails are BLACK DIAMOND Trails, which requires the most skill and ability levels to navigate these trails.

  • We hope to have them repaired in the near future (except for East Dry Canyon area), but for now the following general area, roads and trails are still close for reasons listed:

  •  * East Dry Canyon Area - All roads and OHV trails in that area are closed to entry until further notice due to unexploded ordinances that are currently being removed.
  •  * 7N04 Tinta Road is closed due to washout.
  •  * Tinta OHV #101 Motorcycle Trail is closed due to washout.
  •  * 7N03B Thorn Meadows Road off of the 7N03 Grade Valley -Mutau Road due to a washout.

  • MANY THANX to ALL the CLUBS that assisted with the annual surveying of the MVUM Seasonal Closure routes for damage and clearance of downed trees and brush making it possible for us to open all of the roads/trails ahead of schedule. Plez share ALL of this information with your club members, other clubs or OHV and wilderness enthusiasts that you may know who frequent and enjoy our trail systems. If you have any questions regarding the above information, plez contact Ari or I via phones or emails shown below.

  • P.S. Hi Phil....Would it be possible for you to forward this email to CORVA...as you suggested? I can't find the email address that you gave me to include them in this email. THANX!!
