CORVA Members,
The U.S. Forest Service is currently accepting public comments on the proposed rescission of the
2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule, a policy affecting more than 44 million acres of National Forest System lands, including significant areas here in California.
This proposal could represent an important change in how our National Forests are managed. Rescinding the national Roadless Rule would return more decision-making authority to local
forest managers, potentially providing greater flexibility for wildfire prevention, fuels reduction, forest health, infrastructure, and responsible public access.
For the OHV community, this does not mean closed roads and trails automatically reopen. Existing Travel Management Plans, Motor Vehicle Use Maps, Wilderness designations, and other
federal requirements remain in place. However, it could create important opportunities for CORVA and the motorized recreation community to advocate for better access and connectivity as future forest-level decisions are made.

management, and meaningful involvement of the motorized recreation community.
