Efforts To Reverse Wrongful Termination Of Stewards Volunteers
Sequoia Kern River District Ranger Al Watson falsely claims Stewards are disrespectful, unprofessional and do not help to meet the Forest Service Mission. Somehow higher level staff believe him in the face of the
facts. Stewards of the Sequoia have performed more trail maintenance every year and more than any other organization while being extremely cooperative with staff.
Stewards continue to urge higher level staff to address the libelous statements by the District Ranger disparaging Stewards stellar reputation and harming management of our public lands.
Stagecoach Fire Burns In Piute Mountains
A fire started on Monday in Caliente on private property and has grown from 4100 acres yesterday to 6700 acres today burning on BLM lands adjacent to the Sequoia National Forest according to fire officials. It is
only 10% contained and is being wind driven. It is likely to expand onto Sequoia Forest Lands. Three structures have been burned in Caliente.

Sequoia Forest Plan Update
At a recent recreation meeting, the new head of planning announced that the long awaited Sequoia National Forest Plan may be released in November or December.
This is the plan which proposes what we call the
PCT Land Grab which is an up to one mile PCT Corridor. Stewards of the Sequoia have objected to this for many years due to the harm a PCT Corridor will needlessly cause to other forms of recreation and that if they want a PCT Corridor it must be part of
a PCT Plan Revision not a Forest Plan. Stewards continue to be engaged.
Alabama Hills Plan
Stewards have been engaged in the BLM Alabama Hills Plan which seeks to reduce camping and other recreation in the Lone Pine Area. Stewards are in the process of getting BLM staff to address the need for more recreation
access as well as stopping them from shutting down the only motorized single track in the area.
Stewards New Board Member John Williamson
John is one of the founding members of Stewards of the Sequoia. He has a wealth of personal experience enjoying Sequoia trails hiking with his dogs or riding one of his stable of dirt bikes. He has been involved
in past Sequoia trail plans and has done a fair share of volunteer trail work. We are most pleased that John is now Vice President of Stewards of the Sequoia.

One of the best things about Littlejohn’s English Toffee House at the Los Angeles Farmer’s Market is our open-window kitchen. Look through it and you’ll experience Littlejohn’s
80-year tradition of making candy by hand one small batch at a time. Not much has changed here since the 1920s, right down to the candy makers in crisp white uniforms hand-crafting mouthwatering Fudge, English Toffee, Caramels and other confections, stirring
them over open flames in copper kettles and working each decadent batch to perfection on marble tables.
But even if you can’t make it to L.A., you can still enjoy all the delights we make in our shop. Browse, deliberate (it won’t be easy), then place your order and we’ll ship the world’s finest hand-made candy right to your doorstep.
