Sequoia Day Use Areas Reopen

For the past two months Stewards of the Sequoia and others have raised concerns about the new Sequoia National Forest regulations forbidding the public from entering our public lands. The Forest Service closed boat ramps, day use areas and trailheads, even though they repeatedly stated they were not closing day use areas. The Forest Service was making lawbreakers of moms with baby carriages and others who were recreating responsibly in a socially distanced manner in the wide open spaces of our public lands.

We are pleased to see the Forest Service recently reopened these areas to the public by letting their closure order expire.
It is so important for Stewards of the Sequoia and the public to speak up letting the Forest Service or any government agency know when they are being overly restrictive or harming the community.
We hope our efforts will help the Forest Service avoid making future inappropriate closure orders.
