Sequoia and Sierra Forest Plan Revision

February 2022 Update

As we wrap up our work and approach the next Sequoia and Sierra Forest Plan Revision effort milestone, we wanted to provide an update on our progress.

Latest information at-a-glance:

  • In 2019 we published revised draft forest plans and a revised draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), followed by a 90-day public comment period.
  • We have reviewed the more than 7,000 responses we received during the 2019 comment period and have been updating the final revised forest plans and EIS in response to comments received and considering recent large wildfires in the plan area.
  •  Release of the final revised forest plans and final EIS for the Sequoia and Sierra National Forests is anticipated later this year.

In our February 2021 update, we provided an overview of the Sequoia and Sierra plan revision effort to date. Since then, we have been working to complete our review of comments received and make necessary updates in the revised forest plans and EIS. In this update, we provide a brief overview of what we heard during the 2019 comment period and summarize some of the key changes that will be reflected in the final plans and environmental analysis.
