Kevin, It was great that you could join me for that ride. I’m working on a few short videos of those trails – I’ll send you links once they’re finished.

Hi Kevin, Sure you can join us on Monday! You’ll want to have knobby tires on your bike. The roads won’t be super technical, but they won’t be smooth either. Here’s a video of the first one we’ll do, and it’s probably about typical:

There won’t be any deep sand.

Don and I have yet to coordinate what time we’ll get there and then start riding. I’m thinking it could be 2 or 2:30. We’ll keep you in the loop.

Steve, can i join your Monday Afternoon ride? On my Yamaha T7 fully loaded with all the gear for our trip to OR/WA next month. I need seat time with it all geared up. Coming up from Redlands. Not camping just Monday ride. I will be camping Big Bear June 24/25 helping Big Bear Trai riders.

I'll be heading up to Big Bear next week with Don Sisting for a couple of days of riding the trails and jeep roads. We'll be there before the Big Bear Dual-Sport Run so hopefully the trails won't be all torn up for us.

If anyone from VCMC want to join us for the whole trip, or just part of it, that would be great! We'll be riding at an intermediate level. Here's the plan:

  • Monday June 20: Morning, drive up to Hanna Flat, have lunch, then in the afternoon, ride my favorite jeep roads to Green Valley Lake. They’re really easy and a lot of fun.
  • Tuesday: Ride the Advanced Easy route from last year’s Big Bear Run, 131 miles. We can take lunch with us, stop back at the campsite for lunch, or eat somewhere in Big Bear.
  • Wednesday: TBD – we could explore some trails I haven’t been on, head over to Lake Arrowhead, head over to Pinnacles OHV area, or…
  • Thursday: do a quick ride in the morning, maybe 2 hours. Try to get back to the campground by 11 so we can eat and check out by noon, then get home before the traffic gets too bad in LA.

If you're interested in joining us, we'll be staying at the Hanna Flat campground, in sites 78 and 88. It's $30/night, but only $15 if you have an America the Beautiful pass or some other federal pass. It's a great deal!

Here's the link to book a spot at the campground. There are still lots of sites available.
