Subject: [VCMC Bishop] GoPro Stabilized video of Bishop Rides <<$242762949556$>>

At tonight's meeting we discussed the built-in stabilization capabilities of the GoPro Hero 7 Black. I used that camera to record my riding at Bishop last month and have been posting short clips (about 1 minute) on my Vimeo page. Here's a link to one video to give you an idea of how well the stabilization works:

https://vimeo.com/370764148

The camera was mounted on the handlebars, a little right of center. Since the handlebars and front fender are both connected directly to the upper forks, you would expect the fender to stay in the same position in the image (since it an the camera move exactly the same way and amount) but it doesn't. The camera can adjust the image so it looks like it's floating independent of the bike. I think that's pretty amazing! You can tell how rough the trail is by how much the fender is bouncing around.

There are a bunch of other short videos of Bishop as well. I've been posting one about every two days. I've got a bunch more to go. Eventually I'll put together a 10-20 minute video of each ride that shows the highlights.

Here's a link where you can more easily see the Bishop videos: https://vimeo.com/user23632915
