After Thanksgiving 2018 Nov 23-25
Paul Van Zuyle
I'm interested in going to the desert after TG, but I'm going to miss the club meeting on the 7th.

Is there a Club or casual meetup planned for riding?

Thanks,

Paul

Paul

I asked at the meeting (which not many people were at) and didn't get any response......
I'm thinking of going out but if the weather is like this (good) I might think about going to Isabella since there is no snow yet.  Did you have anywhere special you were thinking of going?

Ride with the wind and keep the rubber side down.

Interested in going on Saturday the 24th. Where am I going and when do I have to be there to catch the first ride.

Can you post a Google pin or something where you are camping at?

Thanks,

Well I guess we have a storm coming in on Thanksgiving so I don't think going to Isabella makes sense so now I'm thinking of going to the Red Mountain area, Searles Station, big flat area, easy to access, etc..  I'm up for other ideas..........  Who's interested in going out?  I would be going out Friday morning coming back Sunday.

Would love to go but I'll be in Oregon.

John,

Yes, I'm interested in going there. A dozen years ago we used to go out to a spot near there on Stevens Mine road and camp with friends. My kids learned to ride there. There are riding options in every direction.

The conditions could be near perfect, especially if a little rain comes through before TG. The forecast high is 60, without any wind.

I will likely come with my boy, who rides my old DRZ400 these days. We'll camp in our Honda Element, and eat turkey sandwiches.

The more the merrier!

Cheers,

Paul

Excellent spot!

Sounds good to me. I'm driving back from Vegas on Friday, I'll load up the SUV and see you guys Friday or Saturday.

Anything I can bring, let me know! (No KTM jokes please).

Thanks,
Robert

Robert, John;

Looks like there was just a little rain out there today, so it might be near perfect tomorrow. I'll head out tomorrow with my son Henry to the exact spot in John's note above: 35.485275,-117.625122. We'll probably be there early afternoon.

If anyone else wants to go, or either of you guys bails, please txt or call me at: (805) 558-0105. I don't have anyone's number.

Thanks,

Paul

Well it was only the four (Paul/Henry Van Zuyle & John/Terri Ferro) of us but we had a great time, got in almost 200 miles in the 3 days.  Pinnacles, Sand Hills, Burro Schmidt Tunnel, etc.  Terri rode into Death Valley and did some hiking.  The whole Ventucky crew was out but camped a few miles away.  (Which some would consider a good thing  )

Traffic wasn't too bad but Garlock Rd./ 14 and you definitely didn't want to go 14/I5 back, 138/I5 south wasn't a problem though.

Sweet!  I did some riding in Oregon, a place called China Creek OHV and surrounding area .  Very wet, something I am not used to.  It rained for 3 days, again, something I am not used to.
